THE URANUS RAP

Composed by Ms. Holl

My name is Sally Holl

Born in '76

When I was 15

I moved to Uranus.

It was hard to adjust

I must say

One year is over

30,000 Earth days!!

URANUS (response: URANUS) (repeat)

Takes 84 years

to orbit the sun

But only 17 hours

in a day to have fun.

What sets Uranus apart

it's tilted on its side

With another planet

it did collide

HEY NOW (response: HEY NOW)

WATCH OUT (response: WATCH OUT)

You might wonder why

Uranus is blue-green

Well, that's because

the atmosphere has METHANE.

2% Methane

15 of Helium

But most the atmosphere

is made of Hydrogen

HYDROGEN (response: HYDROGEN) (repeat)

NOW STOP (pause)

Let me tell you bout the WINDS

Oh how they blow

300 miles an hour

you KNOW that's not slow!

FAST WINDS (response: FAST WINDS) (repeat)

One day I discovered

as I walked outside

Big pieces of ice

flyin' far and wide

My eyes got big

That ice has wings!!

Then I found out

Big rocks of ice are in the RINGS!

THE RINGS (response: THE RINGS) (repeat)

Every night when

I go to sleep

I gaze out at 11 rings

21 moons - that's outta sight

But so many moons

Keeps me up all night!

THE MOONS (response: THE MOONS) (repeat)

19 times farther

than the Earth from the sun

15 times bigger

in mass - not volume!

You'd have to walk

Around the Earth FOUR times

To equal the distance

around the planet that is mine

FOUR TIMES (response: FOUR TIMES) (repeat)

So let me conclude

by saying this

Out of all the planets

My favorite's Uranus

The hydrogen, the rings,

the winds the moons

Walk around 4 times

"So, Mom, can't come home soon!"

But please oh please

Let me return

To teach at Pio Pico

On the beloved Earth.

URANUS (response: URANUS) (repeat)
