OUR CLASS BILL OF RIGHTS (RULES):

1)    I have the right to a safe and clean learning environment.

2)    I have the right to listen, learn, and ask questions in Ms. Holl’s class.

3)    I have the right to use every minute of classroom time to learn.

4)    I have the right to receive feedback on all work that I complete on time.

5)    I have the right to communicate with my parents and teachers.

 

WHEN YOU ENTER THE CLASSROOM

1)    Dispose of all gum, candy, and other food.

2)    Put away and turn off all electronic devices. They WILL be confiscated.

3)    Tuck in your t-shirt, front and back.

4)    Unzip sweatshirts, remove hood.

 

CONSEQUENCES

Lunch detention is assigned as a result of the following actions:

1)    Throwing anything, including chairs, paper, pens, books, or other objects.

2)    Overturning chairs.

3)    Hitting or spitting.

4)    Exiting class without permission.

5)    Using foul language.

6)    Having three unexcused tardies.

7)    Defacing or damaging school property. This includes writing on or damaging lab sinks, desks, walls, doors, floors, and equipment.

 

A note and phone call home to parents occur as a result of:

1)    Two lunch detentions.

2)    Two unexcused absences.

3)    A grade of Unsatisfactory is earned in Work Habits or Cooperation.

4)    A grade of D or F is earned in Academics.

 

A Dean’s office visit occurs as a result of:

1)    Three lunch detentions.

2)    Three unexcused absences.

3)    Excessively and consistently disruptive or abusive in class.

 

GRADING

The formula to succeed in my class is very simple. Just be:

1)    Polite.

2)    Prepared.

3)    Prompt.

4)    Productive.

 

You will receive THREE GRADES this semester:

1)                ACADEMIC (Productive)

GRADE

CRITERIA

4 = A

Letter grade is earned based on percent of assigned work complete and on time. Late work drops a letter grade for each day late except that resulting from an excused absence.

3 = B

2 = C

1 = D

0 = NO CREDIT/INCOMPLETE

 

2)                WORK HABITS (Prepared, Prompt)

GRADE

CRITERIA

E(xcellent)

(1) Has no unexcused tardies or absences; (2) completes and hands in all assignments on time; (3) brings textbook, pen, and paper to class each day.

S(atisfactory)

(1) Has no more than three unexcused tardies; (2) has no unexcused absences; (3) has no more than one late assignment; (4) brings textbook, paper and pen to class each day.

U(nsatisfactory)

(1) Has four or more unexcused tardies; (2) has one or more unexcused absences; (3) has two or more late assignments; (4) does not bring textbook, pen, and paper to class.

 

3)                COOPERATION (Polite)

CRITERIA

E(xcellent)

(1) Consistently demonstrates good behavior including remaining quiet when the teacher is talking; (2) shares responsibilities with classmates in group projects; (3) keeps work area (desk and floor) clean.

S(atisfactory)

(1) Demonstrates good behavior and remains quiet when the teacher is talking; (2) Keeps work area clean.

U(nsatisfactory)

(1) Disrespectful toward teacher and/or classmates.

 

 

LATE WORK POLICY

1)    Late work drops a letter grade for each day late except that resulting from an excused absence.

 

2)      It is your responsibility to get the assignments you missed from a classmate or from me as soon as you return from your absence, whether it is excused or unexcused. “I didn’t know the assignment” will not be accepted as an excuse for not turning in your work.

 

3)      If an assignment is due at the beginning of class but is turned in at the end of class, it is late. “I forgot to turn it in at the beginning of class” or “I left it in my locker, can I go get it?” are not acceptable.
